The official specifications
From Annexure III of the IBPS CRP PO/MT-XVI detailed notification (June 2026). The same format is used across IBPS-run recruitment portals, but always check the notice for the exam you are applying to.
| Document | Pixels (preferred) | File size | Notes |
| Photograph | 200 × 230 | 20–50 KB | Recent colour passport-style photo (4.5 × 3.5 cm), light, preferably white background |
| Signature | 140 × 60 | 10–20 KB | Black ink on white paper; not in capital letters |
| Left thumb impression | 240 × 240 at 200 DPI (3 × 3 cm) | 20–50 KB | Black or blue ink on white paper; JPG/JPEG |
| Handwritten declaration | 800 × 400 at 200 DPI (10 × 5 cm) | 50–100 KB | Your own handwriting, in English, black ink; not in capital letters |
IBPS also asks you to capture a live photo with your webcam or phone during registration. That one is taken inside the form, so you do not prepare it here.
Photo rules that cause rejections
- Caps, hats and dark glasses are not accepted. Religious headwear is allowed if it does not cover the face.
- If you wear glasses, there must be no reflections and your eyes must be clearly visible.
- No harsh shadows, no red-eye, and look straight at the camera with a relaxed face.
- Keep copies of the same photo: you may need it at later stages, and IBPS advises not changing your appearance until selection is complete.
How to prepare each file
- Photo: use a recent passport-style photo. Crop it to a portrait shape close to 200 × 230 first, then pick Photo 20–50 KB. "Whiten paper" stays off for photos.
- Signature: sign on white paper with a black pen, photograph it in daylight, crop close, then pick Signature 10–20 KB. "Whiten paper" turns grey paper white and keeps the ink sharp.
- Left thumb: press firmly on a stamp pad, roll lightly onto white paper, let it dry, crop to a square, then pick Left thumb 20–50 KB. It must not be smudged.
- Declaration: write the exact text from your notice in running (not capital) letters, crop to a wide rectangle, then pick Declaration 50–100 KB.
If the result is below the minimum
Small images make small files. A 140 × 60 signature can come out under 10 KB even at the best quality, and KBSnap will warn you rather than pad the file. The notice calls the pixel sizes "preferred", so if that happens, raise Max width a little (keeping the same shape) or start from a sharper photo, and check how the form responds.
FAQ
Is "50 KB" 50,000 bytes or 51,200?
Notices do not say, so KBSnap stays inside both readings: it keeps the file under the maximum counted in thousands of bytes (50,000) and, when you set a minimum, above it counted in 1,024-byte units (20 KB = 20,480 bytes). The result also shows the exact byte count.
Can I use the same photo for SBI or RBI forms?
Many bank recruitment portals hosted on ibpsreg.ibps.in use the same 20–50 KB photo and 10–20 KB signature format, but check the notice for each exam.
Are my documents uploaded to KBSnap?
No. Compression happens on your device in the browser. Your signature and thumb impression never leave it.
